Egg prices are outrageous lately..but be thankful you aren't in California.
The average retail price for a dozen large eggs jumped to $7.37 in California this week, up from $4.83 at the beginning of December and just $2.35 at this time last year.
The cause is an unprecedented outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza — commonly known as bird flu — that has killed tens of millions of egg-layers nationwide.
State laws about free range chickens in California have pushed the price up there.

US officials have granted conditional approval to a vaccine meant to protect honeybees against a fatal bacteria known to jump easily between hives, wiping out entire colonies as it spreads.
It is the first time a vaccine for insects has been approved in the US.
Instead of treating individual bees, the vaccine is delivered to the queen in a sugar mixture, which prompts an immune response in her offspring. Researchers hope to extend the approach to other insect-related diseases.

An ice cream place called Catch'N Ice Cream recently opened in New York. And their gimmick is they THROW you your order.
It comes as one big scoop they hurl across the room, and you're supposed to catch it in a bowl. It opened last summer, but two videos are trending right now . . . one of people catching ice cream, and one of people dropping it.
If you drop your order, they give you a new scoop. So it's just for fun. A TikToker named Dylan Lemay opened it after he got a following online while working at Cold Stone Creamery.

Today's Useless of the Day - Americans spend almost $100 billion a year on the lottery . . . which is more than we spend on books, movies, music, video games, and tickets to sporting events combined.
