Nepal honored the historic first ascent of Mount Everest, made 70 years ago Monday by climber Tenzing Norgay — a member of the Sherpas, a community in the Himalayas — and Edmund Hillary, the New Zealander whom he guided.

The government also honored Sherpa mountaineers Kami Rita, who summited Everest for a record 28th time this summer, and Sanu Sherpa, who has twice climbed the world's 14 highest peaks.

1. The Little Mermaid $95.4 Million - Analysts think it will become the fifth biggest Memorial Day weekend opening ever. At the top of that list is Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and X-Men: The Last Stand.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. $20.4 Million

4. Super Mario Bros. Movie $6.3 Million

I've talked in years past about the Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake. It's an annual event in England, where people race down a very steep, 200-yard-long hill chasing a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese.

This year's event happened over the Holiday weekend, and a 19-year-old Canadian named Delaney Irving won the women's race, despite falling and being knocked unconscious on her way down, and rolling across the finish line.

Delaney didn't realize she won until later, when she woke up in the medical tent. She said, "I remember running, then bumping my head, and then I woke up in the tent. I still don't really believe it, but it feels great." It's an extreme event, so injuries aren't uncommon but winning while unconscious is unusual

Last Wednesday afternoon, a middle-aged White woman with gray hair went through a Burger King drive-thru in Omaha, Nebraska. She was told her total would be about $8.

But when the woman pulled up to the window, the employee handed her a small bottle of milk, and told her the order was about $7.

The employee told police the customer was upset by the lower-than-expected total and then threw the milk bottle back, hitting the employee in the chest. The employee was not injured.

The woman then sped off . . . without her order, and also without paying for it. Police are still investigating.

In a new poll, 77% of Americans on social media say they have had a fear of missing out on the latest food trends.

It sounds like that includes both the IMPRESSIVE stuff people make and post photos of . . . like your sister-in-law making omelets without them falling apart . . . to the dumb TikTok trends . . . like putting ketchup on pancakes or something.

Among people who admit to having FOOD FOMO, 57% have attempted to make the food at home themselves . . . and they average trying FOUR recipes a month that they've seen online.

But keep in mind, social media isn't always what it seems. 73% of people admitted to spending extra time "preparing their meals just to make them more picturesque for social media."

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - People typically touch their phones 2,617 times per day.
