The Family Fare supermarket in Midland, Michigan had some contractors out recently to work on the building, when they came across a strange extension cord. They followed it and discovered a hidden living space.

It turned out that a 34-year-old woman was living there.

It was on the roof. The building was part of a strip mall and the store sign was on the front of a peaked roof truss. It's hollow with a 3-foot by 4-foot access door in the back.

It's unclear how big the space was but she had it decked out with flooring, a mini-desk, a pantry of food, a Keurig coffee maker, and even a houseplant. She'd been living there for around a year.

When the police went up to investigate, the woman came right to the door and said, "Don't worry, I'm leaving."

She had a job . . . but NOT at the supermarket . . . and even a car.  There's no word WHY she was there, but it was a rent-free spot where she wasn't bothered.

The store isn't pressing charges or anything.  She DOES have to leave.

Last week, a woman in North Carolina named Rhonda Deaver went to a restaurant called Smith's Café.  She accidentally left her credit card behind.  When she realized it, she went back to pick it up.  But there was a problem.

An employee had spotted the card, and . . . in an effort to find Rhonda . . . took photos of the front AND back, and posted it on Facebook, in a group for the town of Kinston.

The photos were NOT edited, so all the information was clearly visible.

Well I'm sure you can guess what happened next.

It's unclear how long the post was up, but it was enough that her card was used a lot . . . there were over $2,000 in charges, along with a ton of declines.

Rhonda's bank closed the account . . . and thankfully many of the charges were declined . . . but Rhonda says she's still working through the process of disputing $2,000 in the charges that did go through.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - 67% of American adults had coffee in the past day, more than any other beverage, including tap or bottled water.  That's up from 49% of adults in 2004.
