1984 - 99 Luftballons - Nena

40 Years Ago - 1984 Nena released her album featuring the smash and title track 99 Luftballons.

It peaked at #2 and #22 Club. ("Jump" from VanHalen kept it from #1)

The English version retains the spirit of the original narrative, but many of the lyrics are translated poetically rather than being directly translated. The band didn't like it, co-writer Uwe Fahrenkrog Petersen said, "We made a mistake there. I think the song loses something in translation and even sounds silly."
