40 Years Ago - 1983 Spandau Ballet released their third album True.
The first single was "Lifeline" and it got play on MTV and was #58 on the Club Chart with the second single "Communication." This song actually made the Hot 100 peaking at #59.
For the third single, DJs were so enthusiastic about playing "True" that the band knew it would be their next single. It was a smash making #4, #1 AC, #34 Mainstream Rock, and #76 R&B.
The fourth single "Gold" suffered from what lead singer Gary Kemp says was a sign that Chrysalis America was not working to promote them. It peaked at #29 and #17 AC. (it's a great song and many picked up on the Bond tribute vibe.)
Also, like ABC the production values on this album ore outstanding. Crisp and Clean.
