Celebrate National Sausage Pizza, Coming Out, Online Bank, Kick Butt, and Native American Day.
Oh..and it's that holiday in October. All about that guy that (didn't) discover America in 1492. During the 1492 expedition, Columbus was looking for Asia. He and his crew landed their three ships somewhere near the modern-day Bahamas. While he may not have discovered an already populated continent, he did spur further exploration and colonization of North America.
There is lots of controversy about Columbus Day, and believe it or not..it's not new. It dates back to the 19th century, when anti-immigrant groups in the United States rejected the holiday because of its association with Catholicism.
In many Latin American nations, the anniversary of Columbus’ landing has traditionally been observed as the Dìa de la Raza (“Day of the Race”), a celebration of Hispanic culture’s diverse roots. In 2002, Venezuela renamed the holiday Dìa de la Resistencia Indìgena (“Day of Indigenous Resistance”) to recognize native peoples and their experience.
Several U.S. cities and states have replaced Columbus Day with alternative days of remembrance. States including Alaska, Hawaii and Oregon commemorate Indigenous Peoples' Day, as well as cities like Denver, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
In some parts of the United States, Columbus Day has evolved into a celebration of Italian-American heritage.

Here's your 911 misuse story. And he should know better at his age.
A 61 year old man from Indiana is in custody after continually calling 911 to announce that he was "tired."
Schroeder made the calls the day after pleading guilty to an early misuse of the emergency system, in which he admitted to phoning 911 to state his displeasure with a relative who “was not following his rules,” the outlet reports.
Though he doesn’t seem to know much about the reason for 911, Schroeder is no stranger to the law, even this year. He's a real winner.
Schroeder was charged in May with possession, leaving the scene of a crash, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated after allegedly driving drunk through a cemetery — nearly three times the legal limit — only to damage a minimum of four headstones.

Have you ever wondered what your favorite band's most repeated words are? (like we have that kind of time)
Now thanks to a site called Repeeted.com you can find out.
The site uses different technologies with a lyric database to find the results. And it works for almost any artist or band from all types of music.
For example, if you were to check The Beatles, their most repeated words are "love," "yeah," and "well."
Or try Billie Eilish and you'll see hers are "love," "say," and "never."

If you ask someone where they're from are you wondering where they were born, where they grew up, or where they live now?
In a new poll, 30% of people say they're from a state only if they were born there. 20% say they're from a state if they've lived there one to 10 years and another 18% only say it if they've been in a state for more than 10 years.
6% of people say it takes less than a year for them to say they're from a state and 11% say they immediately cut ties with any old states and consider themselves from their new state the moment they move.
It's kind of surprising that "where you grew up" wasn't an option, since some people are born in one state, but spend most of their childhood in another place.

A new survey made an interesting observation about how we determine our favorite seasons.
73% of people say that their "seasonal preference" is directly tied to how much time they can spend outside in that season. So, your favorite season might be fall if your schedule, hobbies, and lifestyle lead to you spending a lot of time outdoors in October and November.
On the flip-side, 16% of people say that spring is their least favorite season and of those people, 64% said they suffer from allergies in the spring.
And winter was an unpopular season maybe because it's harder for some people to spend a lot of time outdoors.
40% of people picked winter as their least favorite season. Summer was the second-least favorite with 25% of the vote followed by spring at 16%, and fall at just 5%.
